How to have YourSay:
Canberrans love nature. We're surrounded by it and we're affectionately known as the Bush Capital of Australia.
With growing demand for nature-based experiences, we're developing a Nature-based Tourism Strategy that will look at how we can showcase and preserve our natural assets while supporting sustainable growth and strengthening our economy.
To help develop the Strategy, we want to understand what outdoor activities and experiences you like to explore in the ACT and where you take visiting friends and family.
You can share your views by:
- Sharing your favourite nature experiences on an interactive map
In the next couple of weeks we'll open a survey to explore what you like about Canberra's nature-based experiences and what we could do better.
Towards the end of the engagement, we'll take key findings from the map and survey and ask you if you agree with emerging themes to see if we've missed anything.
We are looking at:
Australia's world class natural beauty and wildlife is a key driver for international visitors.
To prepare for future demand of Canberra's natural assets, and provide a premium experience, we need to establish a Nature-based Tourism Strategy. This will give us a planned and sustainable way to enhance, promote and enable a better understanding of our natural landscapes and wildlife.
The Strategy will aim to benefit Canberrans, visiting friends and family, and international tourists, by linking our natural assets, attractions, amenities, infrastructure and businesses, so we can deliver unique and sustainable tourism experiences.
We will use your views to:
Your views and experiences through the interactive map and survey will help us understand where you like to visit and why, what you like about our nature-based experiences and where we can improve.
This feedback about our natural landscapes and wildlife will be used to develop the draft Strategy and inform workshops with stakeholders from ACT Government, Tourism Industry, Indigenous Groups and local communities.
