How you can have YourSay

How you can have your say:

Your light rail network starts with Gungahlin to the City. Next Woden.

Light rail will cross Lake Burley Griffin to Woden.

We are working collaboratively with the National Capital Authority to assess the existing Commonwealth Avenue Bridge as well as develop plans for a dedicated light rail bridge in the middle of the existing bridges.

We are now undertaking the technical studies to inform future designs and engineering plans for a light rail bridge over Lake Burley Griffin.

You can stay informed and involved with work on Commonwealth Avenue Bridge:

  • View the boat undertaking technical studies
  • Asking a question at a face to face engagement activity
  • Sign up for project updates

What is being looked at:

Many Canberrans commute, cycle, walk, run, fish and recreate over Commonwealth Avenue Bridge as well as enjoy Lake Burley Griffin.

We are undertaking technical studies on Commonwealth Avenue Bridge and the bed of Lake Burley Griffin to determine what kinds of materials and engineering supports we need for a dedicated light rail bridge.

We are using boats in Lake Burley Griffin positioned near Commonwealth Avenue Bridge.

You can expect to:

  • See a small boat with equipment creating images of the bed of Lake Burley Griffin between 7am and 5pm on weekdays
  • Be mindful when navigating near or under Commonwealth Avenue bridge while technical work is underway

We will use your views to:

We want to keep you informed and interested as we build Canberra’s light rail.

Your experience of the technical study will help inform how we undertake future technical studies for the City to Woden light rail project.
