We are looking at:

The Environment, Planning and Sustainable Development directorate has reviewed and updated the ACT's Environmental Standards: Assessment and Classification of Liquid and Non-Liquid Wastes to help waste generators classify the types of waste they produce. The standards go into detail around how different types of waste are assessed and then classified to ensure appropriate disposal and management.

The updated draft Environmental Standards will align waste classification processes with those in New South Wales including a reduction in waste categories and the inclusion of criteria not currently captured within the Environmental Standards.

The Environment Protection Authority, ACT NoWaste, Health Protection Services and the Commissioner of Sustainability and the Environmental were all consulted during the development of the draft Environmental Standards.
