What we're looking at:

The ACT Government has agreed in principle to implement recommendations made by the Royal Commission into Institutional Responses to Child Sexual Abuse (the Royal Commission) relating to the reporting of child sexual assault, which have implications for the confessional seal. The Discussion Paper sets out background and issues for consideration to inform the implementation of the reforms recommended by the Royal Commission.

The ACT Government formally responded to all of the Royal Commission’s recommendations in June 2018 and accepted each of the four recommendations in principle, noting that further consultation is required in relation to the implementation of the recommendations.

Who can provide input:

Submissions from the community were welcomed. We will have further direct consultation with key stakeholders directly impacted by the reforms.
